Highly Targeted Opt in List

Are you successful with your Internet business? Better yet, do you think you are successful with your online business? When most online entrepreneurs are asked with these questions, they often brush it off. This is because most of them, who have not yet realize the right way to succeed in Internet Marketing, continue to believe that the mere fact that they have a website is already enough to succeed on the Internet.

The truth is, they all end up very upset because they fail to realize the secret behind the success in Internet Marketing.

Having a website is not a guarantee that your online business will succeed. How will you succeed if people will not realize that your business exist online? The key to Internet marketing is to get your business noticed.

An effective way to do this is to build an opt-in list. In fact, most of the people who are already experts in Internet marketing will tell you that building a highly targeted opt in list is the most effective and important tool in Internet marketing.

Basically, an opt in list is a list of email addresses of people who have agreed to obtain any kind of information from online businesses like you. The term “opt in” means that you have their permission to send to them whatever newsletters, brochures, or promotions that you have in your online business.

It is extremely important that you have their permission first before you send them information because unsolicited emails will be regarded as spam, and spamming is an illegal activity in the Net.

Because of the feasibility of building an opt in list on Internet marketing, most of the online entrepreneurs consider it as the most treasured tool online. They need this list in order to get the consumer’s attention and sustain interest.

By creating an opt in list, you will be able to maintain solid contact with your previous buyers at the same time boost your sales because of the fact that you have a sure target market always ready to purchase items from you.

Opt in list is considered to be the most important item in an Internet marketer. In fact, if in case something bad happens like emergencies and catastrophes and they could only save one item, it would be their opt in list saved on a backup disk.

Just imagine how these people value their opt in list. If this is the case, then it must be really something, right?

So, for people who are not yet aware of the importance of building a highly targeted opt in list and would like to know how to build them, here are some tips that could be very useful.

1. Decide on your niche market or your target market.

It is extremely important to know your target market in order to focus on something. It would be really confusing and time consuming if you will build an opt in list with no particular market in mind.

Moreover, having a niche market would bring more focus on your marketing campaigns and would derive better results because you have direct you emails to people who would most likely be interested in them.

2. Be sure that your selected target market is available in the Internet.

The mere acquisition of a niche market is not a guarantee that you can already start building your opt in list. Since, the concept of opt in list is specifically generated to aid in the growth of the Internet market of a particular entrepreneur, it is important to have a niche market that is available through the Internet.

The concept is basically simple, how can you promote your online business if your niche market is not available in the Internet? Hence, it is extremely important to verify if your target market is available online.

3. Verify if your chosen target market is income-generating market.

Building a highly targeted opt in list will just go to waste if your niche market is not generating any income at all.

Try to verify their income-generating potential through the search engines, wherein you will find some paid ads related to the keywords you have searched. This would only mean that if somebody is willing to pay to advertise focusing on the same target market that you have in mind, chances are, you will be able to reap positive results on your target market.

4. Generate solutions to the problems of your target market by using Internet forum.

Creating this type of forum will initiate the underlying solutions that will answer to most of your target market’s problem.

Through their posts and threads, you will be able to identify your target market’s problem and will be able to come up with a great solution. In turn, it will be very handy when you make your opt in list.

Indeed, the success of an online business or Internet marketing greatly depends on the opt in list. It is where the online businesses could come up with newsletters that would allow them to promote their products at the same time create the need for it. In turn, it will generate more income and make more money.

As they say, money is in the list that’s why most businesses consider opt in list as valuable as gold.

Improve Search Engine Ranking

Author: Darren D

In today's world of internet, it doesn't matter if you are a small company or large corporation, any business on the internet has the same chances for organic traffic results and this makes for a whole new marketing game for traffic. To improve search engine ranking in today's online market requires a bit of time, patience and creativity. Yes, it also requires a site.

In the words of Albert Einstein "Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value", this holds true now on the Internet Market. Though we all want to be successful, the face of the Internet has changed greatly and people are more aware of warning signs and stay away from sites that do not provide value to their search results. Just because you can improve search engine ranking doesn't mean your site holds true value to your potential clients. If you have read any of my other articles or blog posts you note that am drilling this issue of value added content to your site. Nothing upsets me more to find a site and not know what it is they really do or offer.

How can you improve search engine ranking and maintain clients through valuable content? We suggest the following:

1. Make sure your site is SEO friendly and readable to the search engines bots.

2. Create a Privacy Policy Page

3. Create a FAQ's Section

4. Create a Contact or Support page

5. Create a News Page

6. Create a Press Page

7. Use a Blog to manage the News, Press & FAQ's.

Now, those are just a few things that are important before you get into the additional things that you will need to improve search engine ranking. Your site should be well positioned for the search engines so they can find pages of content and know what keywords your site should be placed for.

Once you have your site in position you want to start spreading the word that your site is out there in the following ways:

1. Write articles each month educating people on your industry

2. Submit these articles to article directory sites

3. Submit your rss from your blog to rss directories and social book marking sites

4. Submit your site to SE friendly directories

5. Find related sites and broker deals with them to get your link somewhere on your site

6. Write Press Releases

7. Submit these Press Releases to PR websites

Over all what we are saying to make sure your site is always on the go in a sense with information and outbound links. To improve search engines rankings naturally is the best thing you can do for natural results. Don't worry if you can't accomplish these things there are plenty of trained companies who can manage these for you, just make sure feel comfortable with their services and that they don't offer you things that go beyond what you really need.

Search Engine Optimization

Author: John Reed
OK, lets get to business. If you have ever advertised or marketed online, you have experienced being bombarded by various marketing terms. For every term that exists, there exists multiple opinions on how to employ the tactics SEO professionals prescribe.

Among the most focused upon aspects of search engine optimization is the infamous keyword. Marketers are told to choose the right ones and to inject them into their content to allow for the targeted traffic to find them via search engines.

Having read multiple search engine optimization articles and employed much of the same techniques on the website I own, it is amazing to see the lack of willingness to delve a bit deeper into the business of employing those carefully chosen keywords.

Sure, we all know that certain keywords in your web content can net you more traffic than others, but many would-be marketers find the technique of putting the keywords on their pages and wait for traffic, to be an ineffective and saturated one. Bidding wars and the shear number of retailers utilizing the same strategy commands the need for innovation when marketers attempt to stand out of the crowd.

One such tweaking of the usual keyword strategy is to elect for a more comprehensive key phrase strategy instead.

Think about it. Many of your competitors are using the same keywords you are. They are attempting to secure the same sell that you are and they are listed in all of the same places that you are.

This makes excellent positioning in search engines speculative at best. Dont leave it that way. Employing key phrase techniques to further enhance your websites performance in search engines and communicating your message is an important part of search engine optimization.

For instance, the word (restaurant) is a heavily searched word every month. Millions of web surfers use the Internet to find restaurant locations, contact information, directions, menus, and much much more.

However, the word restaurant is rarely searched alone. If web surfers simply searched the word restaurant it would return too many irrelevant listings. Italian restaurant is no better. Most people will search terms like Italian Restaurant Houston Texas or even Italian Restaurant Houston Texas North Side. The object is to have the exact string that they are looking for appear on your website. Utilizing the key phrase strategy zooms your pages right past competitors that only focus on stand-alone keywords.

The above example is a simple one, but the principle applies to all keyword deployments. Combine this strategy with the strategy of developing back links to your website and your website gains the edge in search engines.

In the competitive arena of the Internet, word combination or key phrase strategies are the easiest way to rank better in the search engines.

A website that has the word (tires) on it twenty times can be eclipsed by a website that has discount snow tires Houston Texas on it once.

To determine what web surfers are searching, you can use keyword-analyzing software. Some search engines actually provide keyword tools to help you in your quest. Either way, it is imperative to choose phrases that are hot and mesh them into your communication at least twice.

Why twice? This will give you an even better chance of placing well in the search engines, as many webmasters tend not to use phrases twice to avoid being redundant in their communication. However if done well, it can appear not to be redundant but rather informative. Use of qualifying terms such as, (to recap) or (I say again), nullifies the visitors feeling that he/she is being told the same information. It makes them feel that you are just being thorough. While employing key phrase techniques requires a tad more thinking, its benefits can be quite substantial.

TypoBounty dot com is where search engine optimization and advertising becomes easy and low cost. At less than 8 dollars per ad space, advertisers can draw attention to their products and services for a fraction of the cost while optimizing their web properties for search engines.

10 Ways to Monetize Your Blog

by david lechner

I'm co-leading a discussion session at Wordcamp about Monetizing Blogs, so I thought I'd also touch on it here with a post about 10 Ways to Monetize Your Blog.

First, I should preface this discussion by saying you first need to seriously evaluate whether you want to work at monetizing your blog. Steve Pavlina has a very thorough post that goes over whats necessary to really do this well, and why the majority of people who try end up not generating significant income.

Second, you have to make sure that making money from your blog directly is your goal. For example, for this blog direct income isnt my goal. I didn't have ads at all untli recently, and the only reason I added them was to use the ad network management application Ive been working on called RMX Direct. Its quite possible that your blogging goals may just to network, write about something youre interested in, or serve some business purpose that isnt direct income generation.

With that out of the way, let's get started:

1. Contextual Advertising
Surprise, surprise. Advertising is easily the most popular blog monetization tactic, mostly due to it being the easiest thing to implement. Advertising comes in many forms, and contextual advertising is the most popular due to Google Adsense and its general success with blogs and niche sites.

I'm going to assume everyone reading this is familiar with it, but I think it should be mentioned that too many bloggers assume that Adsense is the best solution for their blog. For some blogs and topics it works great, for others, not very well at all.

My advice is to not limit your blog to one ad network or just one form of advertising. Other contextual options include the Yahoo Publisher Network, Chitika, Clicksor, AdSonar, and others. Its not easy to manually test all these though if youre shuffling ad tags around and randomly allocating your impressions to them, using a ad network management tool like RMX Direct can help you manage, evaluate, and control your various ad networks.

2. Display Advertising
As I mentioned above, contextual networks arent always the best solution for blogs. In some cases there arent enough advertisers in niche topics, and in others the users just isnt likely to click. In this case, you want to be working with ad networks that provide CPM display advertising. This means you get paid something for every ad viewed, opposed to only getting paid per click.

Just like with contextual networks, its important to use multiple display ad networks to get more variety from your ads, to not let any one network control your inventory, and to make sure youre earning the most amount of money possible.

3. Targeted Advertising
The most desirable form of advertising is having companies that wish to pay good rates to advertise on your blog directly whether its text or image ads. Many bloggers feel that this is a pipe dream, but I speak from experience from running a wakeboarding blog for many years that you can make solid income from targeted advertising without having insane amounts of traffic.

There are a number of key things you have to do though in order to get this type of advertising:

* Have a blog with leading content in your niche and a professional design

* Create a "media kit" which is essentially a page on your blog that explains that you take targeted advertising, what your rates are, demographics of your users, your traffic levels, examples of the types of ads people can run, testimonials from any companies that have advertised with you, and a phone number and email address they can use to get more information.

* Have obvious "Advertise On This Blog" links in key places on your blog.

* Give a company or two in your niche free or very low-cost advertising in order to get the ball rolling. When advertisers see their competitors or companies similar to them advertising, they get the idea that its available. If all they ever see is Adsense ads, they might not realize its an option.

* Be willing to be creative to help your advertisers achieve their goals, and lower your price to get the deals.

* Provide statistics and results to your advertisers. Use an ad server like RMX Direct, phpAdsNew, or something similar which has the ability to create reports per advertiser.

Once you've set your blog up properly, start approaching companies in your niche who will want to reach your traffic. You dont need to go after the biggest companies, there are many small companies who are looking to get better results from the web, and they might not even know about your blog. You dont need to be an ad sales professional, you just need to present your case well on why theyre missing out if they dont advertise on your traffic. Make it easy on them to work with you, help them create ads, help them determine what sizes to use, and work with them to make sure they get the results they need. It seems like hard work at first, but after you get a solid base of advertisers going, its a great source of income and it starts to streamline.

4. Text Link Advertising
Another somewhat unobtrusive form of advertising is using services like Text Link Ads or Adbrite to sell text ads directly to companies. This is pretty low effort and often doesnt take up too much space on a site, so its easy to implement and try out. It should be noted though that you need significant traffic for it to be a big source of income.

5. Affiliate Links
One of the older web monetization methods is still as good today as its always been. If youve got a blog in a specific area, theres a very large chance that there are companies out there that sell products or services your users are interested in. You can earn some nice income recommending or linking to those products.

Amazon.com is probably the most common affiliate merchant used by bloggers, but Id advise finding other unique merchants who may pay better and be more specific to your topic. Amazon is always there as an option, but youre more likely to get more help from the merchant if you go with a smaller company.

Another nice thing about affiliate links is that they fit well with quality content. Reviewing products and services for your users is valuable content, and if you can make money off it as well its a great combination. A word of warning though that you shouldnt change your reviews or be biased due to the fact you can make money off a referral.

While traffic also helps for affiliate links, it can sometimes be an easier way to generate income without high traffic levels like advertising requires. As an example I did a review of a web analytics application a couple of years ago, and this blog had very little traffic at that point. I referred two sales through that review though that still earn me $150 a month every month two years later.

6. Selling Your Content (Ebooks, Videos, DVDs)
If youve got great content, another option is to package it and sell it. There are numerous bloggers who have created ebooks and even real books based on their blog content and made great income selling them. You can also expand to infoproducts like videos, DVDs, audio CDs, and printed books on demand.

This can take some significant work and it requires great content to actually sell, but it can be a nice income stream that lasts a long time.

7. Consulting
Depending on your topic and your level of expertise, you can sell consulting services. If youre a web analytics expert, you could offer web analytics consulting services on your blog for an hourly fee. This takes very little work to setup beyond creating a page outlining your services, getting a standard contract, and having a way to take payments from companies. Again though, it just takes a little bit of effort to let people know that consulting services are available.

8. Donations
Not quite as common as it once was, it used to be fairly common for bloggers to ask for donations on their blog through Paypal or some other service. This only works if you have a dedicated userbase, and a large enough number of users that their donations add up. I wouldnt recommend this if youre also putting a lot of advertising and other monetization methods on your blog. Youll come off as a bit too greedy in that case.

9. Selling Products
Besides infoproducts, you can sell real products like t-shirts, bumper stickers, clothing, or whatever other kind of merchandise makes sense for your topic. Companies like Goodstorm, CafePress, Lulu, and others make it easy by creating the products based on your design and letting you set up a shop. There is no risk to bloggers, which makes it a great opportunity.

10. Selling Your Blog
Perhaps the most extreme of the blog monetization methods, but it can be lucrative! If you arent attached to your blog and are willing to part with it, you can usually find a buyer for it. Your blog must be pretty good, and have a level of traffic worth buying, and it really helps if you already have some income streams going for it. Blogs usually sell for 12-24 times monthly revenues, and there are numerous places you can sell them like eBay and the Sitepoint Marketplace.

Conclusion
It definitely takes some work to monetize your site well, and having good traffic really helps out. Work on building a blog with a solid userbase, and you should be on your way to generating income using any of the methods above. Good luck, and please share any blog monetization experiences you have in the comments. Web Hosting Reviews

Simple Tips For Submitting Your Blog To RSS

Author: Matt Garrett

There's a hidden advantage to blogging of which you may note be aware: it's far simpler to submit a blog to both blog directories and RSS feeds than it is to submit a website to website directories. Why?

Because the web directories have free features which let you submit your blog's fresh content without having to fill in any forms. This system, which works for RDD feeds as well, is called "pinging" and is available from sites like http://pingoat.com and http://kping.com.

All you need do is ping your blog and an updated version of to will be sent to each of the major blog directories, which now number around forty. Think of it: just type in your blog's url and title, hit submit, and your updated blog will be available on over forty directories!

You should, in order to maximize you blog's chance of generating traffic from the directories and RSS feeds, put a lot of thought into your choice of a blog title. It should contain your most targeted keyword, because you want that included in the backlinks you get when you submit the blog to the directories and feeds.

When you submit your blog to the directories and RSS feeds, you will also benefit by having it placed on the first page of a number of them. This placement may result in a momentary surge in your blog's traffic from people who want to see what blog content has been updated most recently.

After you have submitted your updated blog to the RSS feeds and blog directories which offer the ping feature, you can then submit it the old fashioned way to the directories and RSS feeds which do not offer it.

You'll find a reasonably comprehensive list of them at http://vilesileincer.com.

You can strategize your blog submissions to these directories most effectively by submitting first to those directories which offer enticements like first page positioning, or which have higher PR, which will be reflected in your blog's PR.

Most of the RSS directories cannot accept submissions via ping, so you'll have to rely on manual submissions to get you in to the majority of them.

INCREASING TRAFFIC-PEN A BLOG

By Stefanie Olsen
LAS VEGAS--Writing the blog iPhoneFreak.com, Stephane Dion has learned at least one lesson, and it's not just that he has a lot of company as an Apple iPhone fanatic.
Rather, it's that blogs are the best way to reap traffic from Google and other search engines. Blogs are dynamic, real-time, and chock full of search-engine-friendly keywords, he said.

Dion, a blog consultant and author, said he put up the iPhone site in September 2006 and it now draws about 250,000 page views per month. For 8 of those 14 months, iPhoneFreak.com turned up No. 1 in a Google search for "buy iPhone."

"That couldn't have made Apple happy," Dion said in an interview at the BlogWorld industry conference and expo here.

Dion is among about 1,500 attendees expected at the first annual BlogWorld confab, which is designed to bring together writers, entrepreneurs, and service providers in the growing field of blog publishing. Conference-goers are learning about everything from tracking their reputation in the blogosphere to optimizing a blog for search engines.

Jen McClure, founder and executive director of the Society for New Communications Research, a think tank on new media, said at the conference that businesses and publishers are taking blogs much more seriously than they have in the past. For that reason, more marketers plan to spend a larger portion of their advertising budgets on blogs in the coming years.

In a panel on blogging basics, she confirmed Dion's premise. "Blogs get faster search engine rankings," McClure said.

That's not to say all of the 110 million blogs on the Internet have a high ranking in search engines. Most of the popular blogs that register with search engines and other sites have quality content or information, are updated regularly and use concise, accurate titles for posts, experts say.

But even a blog like Dion's can lose out to a company brand. Dion's iPhonefreak.com has been knocked down a few pegs in Google search since Apple introduced the iPhone, but the blog also ranks high for a range of search terms, such as "iPhone accessories," "iPhone cases," and "iPhone hacks." He said that's because blog posts contain a variety of keywords that grab the attention of search engine crawlers looking for fresh content.

"Google is looking for things that are dynamic," Dion said. "Even if you have the most powerful content, if people can't find you it doesn't matter. The search engine rankings are the best way to get readers and blogs are the best way to get rankings."

BLOGGING FOR MONEY

By Stefanie Olsen
LAS VEGAS--Angie Mecklenburg, a mother of four in Sutter, Ill., blogs about chickens, God, and her farm. For an estimated $15, she'll write about soy-wax candles for a marketer.

Over the last 18 months, Mecklenburg has kept up three blogs, the most popular being Ang's Chicken Coop, which has the tagline "a view of the world from the coop." With about 250 daily visitors to her sites, she said she manages to make as much as $1,200 a month, collecting fees from Google advertising and marketers who pay her to write about their products via the blog ad network iZea.

For example, iZea recently paid her about $15 to write about candles from the Maddison Avenue Candles Company. She also was paid to write a blog about the Christian movie The Last Sin Eater earlier this year.

"iZea sent me a synopsis and movie clip. I blogged it and then I went and saw it," Mecklenburg said at the BlogWorld conference and expo here, a three-day event for blog entrepreneurs and professionals. She said she loved the movie.

Mecklenburg's story is just one of many here this week at the Las Vegas Convention Center, which is also playing host to GodblogCon, a gathering of religious bloggers. Many of the attendees are trying to figure out how to make money from their small publishing ventures, whether it's a political, military, or God-related blog.

iZea, formerly called Pay for Post, is one company trying to capitalize on that desire. Founded in June 2006, the company pays as many as 85,000 bloggers to write about a range of products, including household products, cars, wireless phones, and new movies. According to Randy Mountz, vice president of sales, iZea has roughly 11,000 advertisers in its network, including Hewlett-Packard, Ford, and MGM.

Mountz said the company pays bloggers an average of $18 for a 200-word post on a product or service. Its top blogger, the Florida mom behind Simplekindoflife.com, has made as much as $18,000 over the last year, he said.

Still, the company has had some push-back from other bloggers for buying blog editorial, he said. That's why, "we strongly encourage full disclosure in the post of the sponsorship," he said.

And so far, that's working for Mecklenburg, who now has as many as six blogs to discuss her different interests. Those sites include Twitter-patted.com and Ang's Brood.

"I blog about God and the things I see he does in my life," she said. "But it's not my sole focus. I have many interests and it's really hard to wrap all of them in one blog."

RESTRICTIONS ON BLOGS FOR US SOLDIERS

The Guardian reports that US troops in Iraq have reacted angrily to Pentagon restrictions aimed at curbing interent postings from war zones. The Pentagon cited the risk of providing sensitive information to insurgents. Anyone who fails “to protect critical and sensitive information” could face punishment including a court martial.

One posting to Black Five, an offcial site run by former paratrooper Matthew Burden, described the Pentagon’s move as “an incandescently stupid decision of the military to allow the anal-retentive, mistake-avoidance police have their way”.
